Opinel Knife N°08 Animalia Hare
Leaping hares on an oak handle...
The handle is laser. It is comfortable in the hand. The blade guarantees very good sharpness. The safety system called Virobloc® blocks the blade in open and closed position.
We use modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel. It is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chromium and does not require special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% gives an excellent cutting edge. Blade hardness 57-58 HRC.
Our oak comes from France. It is hard wood, very resistant, including insects and fungi thanks to the high content of tannins. It has a yellow-brown appearance, with normal veins.
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all N° 06 folding knives. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).
