In 1825 Edward Laverack started a setter farm with two dogs he bought from Reverend Harrison, they were Ponto and Old Moll. From these two dogs he managed to produce and stabilize the large hunting dog that is now internationally known and bears his name, the Loverack Setter. Edward Laverack wrote this book when he was 73 years old, after fifty years of direct experience in purebred Setter breeding. This fact alone makes the book valuable to any setter fancier and serious dog lover who is curious about the principles of purebred dog breeding. (from the foreword of the book)
